Christmas in Action *Wichita County, TX, Inc. is a local non-profit 501(C)(3) organization that rehabilitates the homes of low-income elderly, disabled and veteran homeowners, so that they may continue to live warmer, safer and with independence.
Christmas in Action was founded in Midland, Texas in 1973, originally as Christmas in April, when Bobby Trimble recognized that many of his neighbors required assistance maintaining their homes. Many low-income elderly and disabled individuals could not afford necessary repairs or lacked the ability to perform them themselves. Bobby Trimble gathered volunteers from the community to address these needs, leading to the creation of “Project Day,” held annually on the last Saturday of April.
Thanks to Bobby Trimble and Mary and John Ward, Christmas in April Wichita County TX Inc. was established in 1983 in their home garage. In 2004, the organization became Christmas in Action. Since its inception, more than 4423, homes have been repaired in Wichita County. Christmas in Action is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization comprised of volunteers dedicated to its mission: “In partnership with the community, Christmas in Action rehabilitates the homes of low-income elderly, disabled and veteran homeowners, so that they may continue to live in warmth, safety, and with independence.”

All repairs are made at no expense to the homeowner. Donations are accepted when possible.
Currently due to COVID-19 contractor services are only being offered due to limited volunteers. Roofing, minor plumbing, electrical and ramps are the main contractor focus.
Family members can also volunteer to do projects for elderly, disabled and veteran family members which could include painting, door installation, grab bars or siding repair to name just a few..
Christmas in Action performs repairs throughout the year as long as funds are available and when urgent needs arise. Our BBQ Cook Off is held in early April and our Breakfast with Santa is held in December.
Cajun Food Extravaganza August 29th in conjunction with Texoma Gives 2026. Light up the Town fundraiser begins the day after Thanksgiving. We will be promoting the contest closer to September 2026. Planning more events and fundraiser events. More to come
Homeowner must be 60+ years, disabled according to social security or a honorary discharged veteran. The homeowner my own and live in the home in Wichita County. Taxes must be paid in full, on a payment plan or deferred. The homeowner must have owned the home for 1 year and no be moving in 2 years.
Right now, contractor services only for roofing, plumbing, electrical, ramps, insulation, and HVAC units (both the heating and a/c must not work) When volunteers are available minor repairs such as painting, grab bars, flooring, yard work, steps and railings are available to do.
Foundations, windows, fences, mold remediation, fire damage restoration, tubs to shower installs (due to paint disturbance) no major structural repairs, driveways and sidewalks, or full rewires.
Grant writing, fundraisers, private donations, business donations and HUD funding.
By donating your time and talents to help others. We have a list of volunteer projects that we can provide to you. If you decide to do a project, we will purchase the supplies and have some tools available for you to use at the shop.
