What is Christmas In Action Christmas in Action is a 501 (3)c non-profit volunteer organization that repair homes for the low-income elderly and low-income disabled homeowners in Wichita County TX. The Wichita County chapter was started in 1983 All repairs are made at no expense to the homeowner. Local business, civic organizations, individuals, churches and Sheppard AFB help sponsor house repairs through donations of funds, volunteers, or skilled services.
When are Christmas In Action Events The Christmas in Action Volunteer Work Day is scheduled the last Saturday in April with a make up day on the first Saturday of May. Occasionally, Sunday repairs may be made to complete repairs However, Christmas in Action performs more urgent repairs throughout the year when needs arise
How is a home considered for repair Applications for the annual Christmas in April Volunteer Work day are accepted throughout the year.
What are the eligibility requirements The main requirements for your application to be considered: You must own and reside in your home. Christmas in Action does not make repairs on rental property. You must be considered low-income elderly (over 60) or low-income disabled. The home must be in Wichita County TX You must provide proof of ownership and income for all occupants
What is the application process Applications are received by Christmas in Action Applications are processed for proper qualifications A visit to the home is conducted to evaluate the work Repairs are completed by a contractor or volunteers depending on urgency, need and difficulty, etc
How may I participate in Christmas In Action There are several ways to participate: Serve on the Christmas in Action Board. Donate services or materials. Volunteer to do repairs. Make monetary donations to purchase supplies and skilled labor.
What is a House Captain House Captains are the project coordinator for a particular house or project. They are usually individuals who are skilled or have knowledge of home repair. House Captains are in charge of coordinating repairs and assigning work to the volunteers on the Christmas in Action Work Day

How can I donate funds, supplies or services to Christmas in Action All charitable contributions come from individuals, churches, businesses, civic organizations, trusts, and foundations. Monetary donations may be submitted to the Christmas in Action, PO Box 8467, Wichita Falls, TX 76307 or online. Supplies such as construction materials, electrical and plumbing supplies, tools, and paint supplies are all needed to make the necessary repairs to each house. Companies, businesses or individuals may donate supplies by contacting Christmas in Action to arrange drop off or pick-up. Christmas in Action success depends largely upon the work performed by skilled labor. Electrician, plumbers, and carpenters are needed for many project. Christmas in Action is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization and all donations are tax-deductible.
How can I join the board of Christmas In Action Anyone interested in serving on the Christmas in Action Board or a specific Committee may attend a Board meeting scheduled the third Thursday of each month, at 6:00 pm at 1006 MLK Blvd, Wichita Falls, Texas or Contact Christmas in Action at (940)696-9396. Christmas in Action Board consists of between 12-20 volunteers from the community, there are no paid positions on the Board. Officer positions consists of President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. There is one paid staff position Board members help in area such as Home Selection, Food, Volunteers, Fundraising, Supplies & Materials, Publicity & Public Relations, etc.
